We partnered with a company in the travel booking and management space that enables corporates to book, customize and manage their travel programmes. They came to us with a mandate of revamping their website and mobile apps in a bid to retain more customers, reduce negative feedback and redesign their platform to match the industry standard.

When they came to us, their existing design was very basic and with not a lot of focus on key design elements. This resulted in less repetitive clients and a less than satisfactory user experience. The challenge for us was to create a whole new portal that facilitated all travel needs, was easy to use and aesthetically well designed.

Our
Observations
Our biggest takeaway from this project was how challenging it could be to design a travel app that fits the need of different traveller profiles based on the frequency of their travel. Each feature in the app had to be designed with a different approach, and each approach had to be reconciled with the key elements that we were trying to offer, such as mobile booking, cab searches, e.t.c. Accessibility was a big focal area for our client, which required us to comply with statutory guidelines in the development process. That took a lot of research and focus for each specific screen on the app.

Approach
Our in-house team linked up with the product and engineering teams of our client and started working on creating an app to replace the existing setup. We deployed design tools such as Figma and Sketch to create a design that was intuitive and innovative. With a specific focus on improving user experience, we added elements that made the app easy to use and streamlined the process at every step. We designed a workflow that sat in perfect congruence with every step of the project. Setting up a Kanban board on Jira, tri-weekly mocks, and a constant to and fro with the client’s internal teams was instrumental in achieving a harmonious process flow synergy.

To understand the market space, we initiate user interviews with real users who are working in that space. We perform different types of user research, analysis & surveys to get the valid data from the users. All the findings from the research are noted and documented in dovetail app and use it for creating the experience.
Design Systems
As UI design has evolved over the years, the scale and speed at which UI screens must be created has also increased. With this drastic expansion comes a dire need for organisations to streamline design work. So, Enterpi builds a robust design systems to manage designs at a large scale. This helps to build Etta quicker for both mobile & website
Colors
We implemented semantic color for Etta. This tokens represent not just a color value but also a semantic role it's used for. In Etta, most color tokens belong to three roles: Background, Foreground and Text. By assigning semantic roles to colors, we achieve predictable theming and dark mode support.

Everyone should be able to travel easily. And with Etta, they can. That’s because Etta was designed from the beginning with accessibility in mind. Whether a traveler lives with impaired vision or hearing, or even limited motor or cognitive functions, Etta delivers the information they need, in the way that they need it.
Vision Impairments
Etta uses a color scheme that meets WCAG contrast guidelines, adjustable text size, and is easy to navigate using screen readers.
Hearing Impairments
Travelers with hearing impairments or deafness can easily get visual and text-based support directly through the Etta app.
Motor Impairments
Etta supports navigation through a keyboard, specialized switch, or other input devices, with clear indicators of what the focus is on.
Cognitive Impairments
A clean, calm interface that incorporates system level settings allows Etta to cater to travelers with dyslexia or epilepsy.
Other Cognitive Conditions
Etta minimizes distractions by using simple, direct descriptions and alerts travelers of upcoming issues without becoming a distraction.
